For your consideration: A rare and quite beautiful Chinese export Porcelain Famille-Rose Lotus dish, Qing/Qianlong circa 1760. Elaborately decorated with lotus flower leaves around the edge with a central medallion of the flowering tree.

Reverse also beautifully painted with the lotus flower petals. Predominantly rose, pink, brown and green shades with minimal gilt. This plate was part of a consignment of Chinese Export Porcelain submitted to Sotheby's a few years ago, but we decided not to sell it at the time, but we're now offering it here today as part of our "downsizing" efforts. Hanger (which can be seen in one photograph) was carefully removed for quality inspection and does NOT convey.

This is pretty consistent with the notes in my father's home inventory listings; he was a passionate collector, and this was one of his "prize" pieces! Measures about 10 3/4" (27.5cm) in diameter by 1 1/2" (37mm) deep. Condition: Remarkably clean for a piece of its age. A few minor frits, typical of wrok of this age.

The gold is slightly worn; other colors are strong. No visible cracks or crazing. A couple of the tips of the lotus petals have tiny "skips" which appear original to the decoration; in one place the artist appears to have left a small "droplet" of deep rose enamel (pictured). On the back there is a small porcelain "adhesion" (also pictured) which is NOT a fill or repair, but original to the making. Remarkably, there is not even a single tiny rim chip!

On the whole, excellent condition for an item of its age! Has been well cared for in a smoke-free home for many years, but now it must find a new home with another collector! We are thinning out some of our rather extensive collection of home decor, original art, art books, catalogues, antiques, old stamp collections and other collectibles.

The kids have left home and have expressed that they are " not interested " and we are basically "downsizing" and simplifying our lives. This is an ongoing process that will last many months years? Hope our treasures find good homes and enjoyment elsewhere; we have loved having them, but now they need new happy homes!
